Welcome!

I am so glad you dediced to join the Embedded Foramative Assessment Book Study.
I look forward to the discussion and sharing of ideas that will follow reading the book, Embedded Formative Assessment by Dylan Wiliam.

The book you have is district property so please use sticky notes if you need to write as you read. I will collect these from you in August when we return.

There are 25 of us participating in this book study. 21 of us are from Goodrell, 3 from Meredith, and 1 from Merrill which will make for good conversation! Please make sure you post an Introduction so that we get to know a little of each other's educational background.

If you need to reach me, you can email me or call or text me at 515-669-2816.

Purpose

We have spent time as a staff this year exploring formative assessment, discussing the difference between it and summative assessment, its uses, as well as working with curriculum partners to write common formative assessments. The purpose of this study group is for us to further our knowledge about formative assessment, reflect on our current practices, and then use this new knowledge to plan our next steps of action in our quest to improve our teaching and thereby the students learning.

Process

We will read the assigned 2 chapers per week, post our response to the guided questions and reflections on the Wiki site, and then respond to at least 3 people's posts. You are also encouraged to post your own question that surfaces for you that you would like to see responses from others. We will all benefit from plenty of thought provoked interaction among so many professionals.
